45. R. moschata (Mill. Dict. N° 13) frutex elatus, ramis longissime scandentibus pendulis, homoeacanthus, aculeis validis, macrophyllus, foliolis 5-7 ovato-acumiuatis herbaceis opacis supra laevibus in nervis subtus pubescentibus simpliciter dentato-crenatis dentibus brevibus valde couniventibus, petiolo aculeato pubescente glanduloso, stipulis angustis superne difatatis, floribus mediocribus corymbosis numerosissimis longissime pedunculatis, corymbis 3-plo-ad 4-plo-compositis bracteis elongatis lanceolatis suffultis, pedunculo receptaculo sepalorumque dorso dense et incano-glanduloso-puberulis, receptaculo cylindrico-elongato supra in collum attenuato, alabastris ovato-conicis, sepalis sub anthesin reflexis lanceolato-linearibus longissime acuminatis subindivisis petalis aequilongis longioribusve, corollâ mediocri alba extus leviter rubente, stylis in columnam elongatam hispidam productis, urceolo maturo subgloboso latericio fere sicco sepalis destituto.

Hab. in Affghanià ad Otipore (Griff.) et in valle Kuram (Aitch. 2, 472).
Ar. Geogr. Ab India boreali (R. Brunonii Lindl.) ad agrum Tunetanum, Mauretaniam, Siciliam, agrum Ruscinonensem (R. Ruscinonensis Gren.).

. Nastarana. Differt foliolis minoribus densissime et acute serratis glaucis glabris, petiolis parum pubescentibus eminentius glandulosis, turionibus hornotinis ex axillis foliorum flores solitarios creberrimos emittentibus.

hornotinis = of the current year  
creberrimos = closely, close one after another

Hab. in Persiae prov. Khorassan inter Meschhed et Herat (Bge.) et in hortis culta ad Kirmanschah Persiae occid., arbor 20’ alta, Persis Nastaran dicta (sec. Haussk.) et ad Bebehan Persiae austr. (Haussk., f. eadem, sed laevissima, foliolis majoribus minusque serratis, flore minuto purpureo pleno) incolis Gul e Reschti (Rose de Rescht) dicta.

Obs. Haussknecht a. 1885 ex horto Atheniensi hybridam insignem, verosimiliter R. moschato X sempervirentem retulit.


CybeRose Note: The true Rose de Rescht, with small red double flowers, does not match any rose I have read about. It is not Rosa pissardi, with its single white flowers. Neither is it R. godefroyae, the "other" R. pissardi. And it is certainly not the "Rose de Rescht" that Miss Lindsay collected in Iran.

Haussknecht's rose had flat corymbs, rather than solitary blooms.
